ISO 45001 is the world's first International Standard for
occupational health and safety (OH&S). It provides a framework
for organizations to manage risks and opportunities, and to
continually improve their OH&S performance. ISO 45001 is
applicable to all organizations, regardless of size, industry
or location.
ISO 45001 is based on the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle,
which is a continuous improvement approach. It is designed to
be integrated with other management systems, such as ISO 9001
(quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental
management).
The standard provides a framework for managing OH&S risks and
opportunities, and for continually improving OH&S performance.
It is based on the following principles:
-
Context of the Organization: Understanding
the internal and external context in which the organization
operates.
